Cloudmas improves the operation of EYSA with Amazon Web Services

Cloudmas optimizes ParkXplorer, a platform that helps citizens find parking in 60 Spanish cities and is hosted in the Amazon cloud.

EYSA is one of the reference companies in the world of parking management in Spain. And is that this firm, which has almost half a century of life, manages more than 140,000 spaces spread across 60 cities, including Madrid, Bilbao, Oviedo or San Sebastian. The company also has experience in the construction of public and private underground parking.

In addition, its app elParking allows any user to search from their smartphone for a parking space, both in regulated areas and in private car parks for public use. As of today, this mobile application has more than 350,000 users in more than 50 cities. In addition, EYSA has partnered with PSA (parent company of Peugeot and Citroën) to launch the Emov car-sharing service, which has 500 electric vehicles in Madrid.

In recent times, EYSA has improved its operations and the quality of service to its customers with the implementation of ParkXplorer, a platform that helps citizens find parking in 60 Spanish cities and is hosted in the Amazon Web Services cloud ( AWS). In the implementation he worked Cloudmas, Premier Consulting Partner of AWS and Metaphase07, which is the main developer of the ParkXplorer tool. "To manage the volume of data and its access in real time in an agile way, it was necessary to use AWS solutions such as Amazon Aurora, AWS Lambda, Amazon EC2, Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) and Amaron Route, among others", explains Fernando Negro , CEO of Cloudmas.

One million daily records

ParkXplorer collects and treats the information generated by parking meters, smart phones, parking sensors, controllers and control and monitoring vehicles of the system using big data techniques. It is, according to Negro, a "fantastic example of a solution for smart cities". On the other hand, the system generates more than one million daily records, not only with business data such as parking tickets for parking meters and mobile apps, seat sensors, residents' permits, license plate reading detections or position of the devices , but also of behaviors, feedback and alerts that serve to automate the processes.

The original implementation was launched in 2014 and in 2016 the databases were migrated to Amazon Aurora, and architecture was optimized. Anyway, the thing does not end here. According to the CEO of CloudMas, the EYSA roadmap for the next two years includes machine learning, deep learning or the Amazon QuickSight analytics service, among other things, in addition to increasing the number of cities.
